The Palace of Versailles was the principal royal residence of France from 1682, under Louis XIV, until the start of the French Revolution in 1789, under Louis XVI. DUCAL PALACE: At Place de la Libération you’re greeted by the home of the Dukes of Burgundy in the 14th and 15th centuries, now the town hall.
If it doesn’t look like it’s from this time that’s because the building has been in use by the city ever since, and was extended in the 17th century by Jules Hardouin-Mansart, who was responsible for the Grand Trianon at Versailles.
He also designed Place de la Liberation, and if you look between the two classical porticoes you can see the renaissance Tower of Philip the good poking up between.
This is the oldest part of the building visible from the square, and dates to the 1450s.
If you’re up for climbing more than 300 steps you’ll have the ultimate view of Dijon as your reward.
DIJON CATHEDRAL: Dijon’s gothic cathedral was completed in the 15th century but has plenty of architecture that is several hundred years older.
DIJON ARCHAEOLOGY MUSEUM: Right next-door to the cathedral is Dijon’s archaeology museum, set in the main wing of the former abbey.
It holds the coveted “Musée de France” label, and deals with human activity in Burgundy from prehistory to the middle ages.
Because of its wonderful setting Christian art and architecture take prominence in the exhibition, so you can wander around the 13th-century Monks’ dormitory and go into the crypt’s dark tunnels.
On level two is the Bronze Age Treasure of Blanot, which is a set of bronze and gold jewellery and tableware.
Also look out for the Rochepot bracelet, made of solid gold and weighing 1.3kg.

Transfer to either “Lauterbrunnen” OR “Grindelwald Grund” for Jungfraujoch.
The Sphinx Observatory, one of the highest astronomical observatories in the world, provides an additional viewing platform at a height of 3,572 metres (11,719 ft), the second-highest in Switzerland. It can be reached by an elevator from the Jungfraujoch. The observatory houses one of the Global Atmosphere Watch’s atmospheric research stations. The Jungfraujoch radio relay station, which is not accessible to the public, is installed west of the Jungfraujoch, on the Jungfrau ridge. It is Europe’s highest radio relay station.

It lies entirely within the Alps and covering an area of just sixty-two square miles. Liechtenstein is the sixth smallest independent nation in the world. It follows a policy of neutrality and is one of the few countries in the world that maintains no military.

FORTRESS HOSENSALZBURG: Your visit to Salzburg Fortress starts with either a beautiful 20-30 minute walk or a quick and comfortable ride on Austria’s oldest funicular (depending on tour option selected). Today you will find an ultra modern rail system instead of the original funicular, which was powered by water and transported people up and down the hill as early as 1892. Upon arrival at the top of the hill, experience a unique view over the Archbishop’s city and the breathtaking landscape of Salzburg’s mountains. Soak up the scenery, take photos, then continue with your visit to the medieval fortification complex, representing 900 years of building history.
SALZBURG MUSEUM: The Salzburg Museum has garnered numerous awards, an institution with its own unique character housed within the magnificently restored Neue Residenz. Aside from aesthetic presentations and valuable art objects, a number of multimedia installations also invite visitors to marvel and learn.
MIRABELL PALACE: Is a historic building in the city of Salzburg, Austria. The palace with its gardens is a listed cultural heritage monument and part of the Historic Centre of the City of Salzburg UNESCO World Heritage Site. The palace was built about 1606 on the shore of the Salzach River north of the medieval city walls, at the behest of Prince-Archbishop Wolf Dietrich Raitenau. The Marble Hall of Mirabell Palace is the venue of the “Salzburg Palace Concerts” (German: Salzburger Schlosskonzerte), directed by Luz Leskowitz. It is also a popular location for weddings.
SCHONBRUNN PALACE: Schönbrunn Palace is a UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITE and Austria’s most visited tourist attraction. For centuries the palace served as the summer home of the Habsburgs, and to this day reflects the interests and tastes of the Habsburg monarchs. Schönbrunn is considered to be one of Europe’s most impressive Baroque palace complexes and Austria’s most significant cultural monument.
VIENNESE GIANT FERRIS WHEEL: The Giant Ferris Wheel was erected in 1897 to mark the 50th year of Emperor Franz Joseph’s accession to the throne. It has been an enduring feature of the city’s skyline ever since. Situated right near the entrance to the Wurstelprater amusement park, its cabins offer a wonderful view of the city and the Prater. The diameter of the wheel is almost 61 meters; the entire iron structure weighs 430 metric tons. The wheel turns at a speed of 2.7 km/h.
The Giant Ferris Wheel has also played the “lead role” in several Hollywood films, such as “The Third Man” with Orson Wells or in the James Bond adventure “The Living Daylights” starring Timothy Dalton. That’s why it was also placed on the list of Treasures of European Film Culture by the European Film Academy in June 2016.
In the entrance area of the Giant Ferris Wheel, eight cabins offer insights into 2,000 years of Viennese history. Individual cabins can additionally be booked for exclusive dinners, cocktail receptions and weddings. The Giant Ferris Wheel is open all year round.
