DAY 1-5: DAR ES SALAAM – RUAHA NATIONAL PARK

  • Arrive at Dar Es Salaam International Airport.
  • Upon arrival you will need to reach the domestic terminal where you will be meeting our representative who will accompany you in your light aircraft flight to Tanzania’s remote south.
  • As you near your destination, watch out for the tell-tale Rivers that snake through Ruaha’s centre and the rotundly elegant baobabs that characterize this reserve.

DAY 1-2: SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK, NORTHERN TANZANIA

  • Arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport.
  • On arrival you will be directed to your onward domestic flight for Serengeti were your expedition will commence.
Your first night will be spent at Kimondo Camp which is located in the Southern Tip of the Serengeti, the starting point of your week-long walking safari.
  • This afternoon can be spent relaxing, or perhaps head out on your first game drive to explore the area.
  • In the evening you will meet your walking guide who will talk to you about your coming adventure and what to expect from rest of the days, before enjoying a delightful dinner under the African starry skies.

DAY 2-4: SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK

Early breakfast at the camp and check-out without your luggage.

Start walking with your guide in the North-West direction. Today is a gentle flat walk through stunning acacia woodlands before the path opens up to the rolling open plains that the Serengeti is famed for.

During your walk you could come across a vast array of wildlife and your expert guide will be there to point out the different fauna and flora along the way, you could even potentially come across big cats, elephant and rhino- there is nothing quite likes seeing one of these magnificent species on foot.

It is also worth noting that depending on your time of travel you may encounter the great migration either at the beginning or the end of your walking expedition, either way the wildlife you encounter along the way will not disappoint.
The goal is to arrive at your home for the night, Wayo’s walking fly camp.

Upon arrival your luggage will be waiting, and your tent will already be set up, it is certainly not your average camping vacation.

Spend the evening discussing the day’s events around a roaring camp fire whilst the chef prepares a delicious dinner for you to enjoy surrounded by the sounds of the bush.

On your third day you will wake up as the sun rises in the distance. Today you will continue your walk through the Serengeti, stopping on route to rehydrate and whenever you come across wildlife, an interesting track or some fascinating vegetation.

Your fly camp will be packed up and it will meet you at your next fly camp stop, and much like before it will be ready and waiting upon your arrival in the early afternoon.

Spend the afternoon at leisure, a real chance to rest your legs and lounge in the shade before enjoying camp fire tales later that evening.

DAY 4-5: SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK

Breakfast at the camp.

Day four will be a real treat, your walk will primarily take place along the winding drainage of the Simeo River, one of the most wildlife rich regions you will come across during your expedition, so have your camera ready!

Being on foot, your approach is significantly quieter, so you can happen across some really impressive animal sightings without spooking or disturbing them. * Each day there is the opportunity to experience something totally new.

  • The goal of today’s walk is to reach a slightly more luxurious fly camp with larger tents, which include raised beds.
  • Much like before, your evening will be spent enjoying another delicious dinner prepared by the camp chef before dining under the vast African skies.

DAY 5-6: SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK

  • Breakfast at the camp.

As you set off this morning and pass into Central Serengeti, you will notice that the environment has changed, with clumps of large boulders and rocks call kopjes dotted throughout the landscape, prime spots for big cats to use as a hunting lookout, or to toast themselves in the sun.

  • Your trail will take you past the largest of these outcrops; Oldonyo Olbae Hill before arriving at woodland based fly camp.
  • Again, opt to relax at camp or perhaps take a short walk within the vicinity to explore the area.

DAY 6-7: SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK

Breakfast at the camp.

Today is your final hike through the vast African bush; explore kopjes, plains and woodland before arriving at your final stop in the early afternoon.

  • As you get closer and closer to camp you will be met with the beautiful singing voices of all-female staff of the luxurious Dunia Camp.
  • Expect to dance around with these wonderful women as they celebrate your arrival before being shown to the spacious permanent tented rooms.
  • It is your final night so of course a party and feast are to be expected, dine and toast to your fantastic adventure through the plains of the Serengeti and through the heart of the great migration.
